Newborn Photography in Markham & Toronto: When to Book & What to Expect
Newborns change almost daily. The sleepy, curled, utterly still version of your baby that exists in those first two weeks will never exist again. Newborn photography holds that version in place — long enough to hand to them one day and say: this is who you were the moment you arrived.
The Newborn Window: Days 5–14
The ideal window for newborn photography is within the first 5 to 14 days of life. During this time, newborns sleep deeply and frequently, curl naturally into poses, and their skin has typically cleared from birth. After two weeks, babies become more wakeful, harder to pose, and the sleepy newborn look begins to fade.
This is why you need to book your newborn session before your baby arrives. We hold your session date provisionally during pregnancy and confirm once your baby is born — adjusting the exact date based on birth day and the baby's readiness.
How to Prepare for Your Session
- Feed your baby just before arriving — a full baby is a sleepy baby, and a sleepy baby is a poseable baby.
- Dress them in a simple, easy-to-remove outfit — most newborn images are done skin-to-skin or in simple wraps we provide.
- Keep the room warm — newborns startle and wake when cold. Our studio is kept warmer than normal during sessions.
- Plan for 2–3 hours — newborn sessions cannot be rushed. We allow time for feeds, settles, and outfit changes.
What's Included
Our newborn sessions include solo baby portraits (posed and wrapped), sibling portraits, and family portraits with parents. We have a selection of wraps, headbands, and props available at the studio — or bring items meaningful to your family. You'll receive a private gallery of 30–60 edited images within 14 days.
Maternity + Newborn Bundle
Many clients book both their maternity session and their newborn session together during pregnancy. Booking both in advance guarantees your spot in our calendar during the narrow newborn window. Ask about bundle pricing when you reach out.
Book Before Your Due Date
Book your newborn session during your second trimester. Our calendar fills quickly, and the newborn window is too narrow to leave to chance. Reach out today and we'll hold your estimated date — no deposit required until after your baby arrives.
